The wait is over! The Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Glow collection has arrived, and they are beautiful!
Last year, the Champagne Pop highlighter hit the shelves and became an instant hit; a staple in everyone's makeup kit. It was quickly announced that it was going to be a permanent item, but we wanted to see more from this amazing duo.
A year later, Becca x Jaclyn Hill brings us two new versions of the coveted Champagne Pop highlighter: the poured crème and the Shimmering Skin Perfector (the liquid version). They've also expanded the collection to bring us more than just highlight: the Champagne Collection Face Palette and Champagne Collection Eye Palette. And I must say, the timing is perfect. Not only are these fantastic for Summer (ok, year-round), but Becca is also the Canadian Beauty Bloggers Network brand of the month!
The Champagne Collection Face Palette contains 3 new blushes and two highlighters (one of them being Champagne Pop), for a total of 20.4g of product, all housed in a light gold reflective case. The top of the case is white, with what looks like silver and gold confetti. It's not squishy by any means, but if you accidentally scratch the surface with your nails, the scratch will disappear in a few seconds. I believe it's some sort of epoxy coating. When you open it, you have a great big mirror. No wasted space!
The first blush, Rosé Spritz, is a Luminous Blush, which contains some shimmer for a glow-from-within look. It's like a blush version of the highlighters. It's a pretty pinky-coral with gold shimmer
Amaretto is a Mineral Blush that's very subtle but personally perfect for when you don't want a bright pop of colour. It's not brown/bronzy enough for a bronzer, but it's not quite the colour you'd expect for a blush. My best description is that it's like the tanned version of a blush (but not a bronzer!) (I probably failed miserably at that description! haha)
Finally, we have Pamplemousse; a bright(ish) pink Mineral Blush. I personally always stay away from these colours, but this blends out nicely and I don't feel like a clown. It actually looks quite nice. I do think that it's a little too pink based for it's namesake though.
While some people might be happy and others disappointed, Champagne Pop is featured in the Champagne Collection Face Palette. A little smaller than the full size, this highlighter is what started it all. Like the name leads you to believe, it's a beautiful champagne colour that brings a little pop to wherever you apply it.
The collection isn't complete without giving Champagne Pop a little sibling: Prosecco. For those of you wondering, Prosecco is another bubbly, made in Italy (champagne is made in France) and a little cheaper. But this highlighter doesn't look cheap at all! This beautiful gold highlighter looks good on my pale skin, but will look great with a nice tan or anyone with skin darker than me.
But of course, you can mix a bit of both highlighters or mix & match blush and highlighter to create something tailored more towards you.
The Champagne Collection Eye Palette brings us 2 shimmery and 3 matte eyeshadows, for a total of 5 new colours. The names fit with the wine/alcohol theme: Chardonnay, Champagne Toast, Cordial, Cognac and Bordeaux. It's housed in the same reflective cold casing with mirror as the face palette, minus the epoxy top.
Chardonnay is a shimmery white based gold. While I would use this primarily on the brow bone as a highlight, this can easily be used over the entire lid or layered over another colour to transform the colour.
Champagne Toast is a shimmery bronzy-brown. This is another colour that could be used over the lid on it's own or layered, or even for the more bronzed ladies out there, might also be able to blend it out on the cheekbones as a highlighter (really bronzed... really blended...)
Cordial is a gorgeous matte pink-nude. This is a fantastic blending/crease blending colour. I honestly love this and will possibly cry when I hit pan.
Cognac is a warm matte tan brown, similar to leather. The possibilities with this one are endless.
Bordeaux, much like the wine, is a dark plum colour. Bordeaux can easily bring any look from plain and boring to sultry and flirty.
The one downfall to these palettes, are the reflective gold casings. The fingerprints!! Ugh, they drive me crazy! Other than that, they're amazing.
Needless to say, both palettes have found homes on my vanity. Expect to see a look later this week!
I am dying over Pamplemousse blush. It's so sad because I haven't even photographed mine yet... they're sitting on a shelf at home just waiting for some loving! Love your photographs (as per usual!).
ReplyDeleteThank you! And you need to photograph them. They've been on that shelf for too long already. I think I can hear Pamplemousse calling your name from over here!
DeleteOh gosh, these are just too pretty. I really love the look of both palettes but my biggest issue is with the packaging of the face palette. WHY IS EVERYTHING NOT CENTERED!?
ReplyDeleteHaha! If they centered it, they wouldn't have been able to put the little Becca Jaclyn Hill logo on the inside! :)
