First Julep Box

My second box is due any day now and I just realized that I didn't get the chance to post about my first box!

Commitment shy? No problem. YOU decide how often to receive your Julep Maven box, and you can cancel at any time."


Every month, Julep sends an email with what will be in the following month's box. There are a total of about 5-6 different boxes, based on the different beauty profiles and sometimes a "maven's choice". You select which box you want, or if you'd like to gift the box or even skip it all together. The cost is $19.99 US per month (or nothing if you decide to skip it) and free shipping (you can purchase Julep polishes from Sephora - the Canadian online store has them for $16- $17.50 each. You directly from the Julep store - if you're not a member, they are $14 US each, if you are a member, $11.20 US each)

You get to take a style quiz that fits you in one of the 5 beauty profiles: American Beauty, Boho Glam, Bomshell, Classic with a Twist or It Girl. As mentioned, the contents of the boxes are based on these profiles and there is sometimes a "maven's choice". Pretty much the top 2-3 products, as voted by the subscribers (mavens), is put into another box.


You also get to add things to your box at lowered prices (I believe polishes were about $4.99), or even upgrade your box to the full collection (price may vary, but I think it's around $30). What else? Well, you get 20% off everything in the store and free shipping plus collect points and redeem them for add-ons, full boxes or upgrades.

So, with all that being said, I subscribed and got my first box, a "trial box" if you will, for only $0.01. Yes, a penny (there are a few codes out there, I think penny is one of them. Or you can do what I did and wait for them to send you a few emails, each time lowering the price) Everything in the box was neatly organized. It came with two welcome notes (general and one about Classic with a Twist - my beauty profile), then tissue paper around a reusable bag. In that bag were my polishes.

I got 5 polishes, carefully wrapped in bubble wrap (we all love bubble wrap!). Each of the polishes were from a different beauty profile:

 
Sasha: Cantaloupe melon crème. Boho
Emma: Seashell golden pink shimmer. American Beauty
Chelsea: Violet, silver and purple multi-dimensional full coverage glitter. Bombshell
Claire: Bright sky blue crème. It Girl
Rose: A juicy watermelon red crème. Classis with a Twist

I was overall very happy with the experience and the polishes. Shipping with quick (no tracking for us Canadians), the colours were nice and easy to apply. I haven't had the chance to try them out fully, but that'll be soon - along with November's goodies :)
