6 Products that are Worth the Splurge

Hourglass, vichy, MAC, Bite Beauty, Becca

Hey guys! This is Trysh from over at Prairie Beauty Love and I'm really excited to Guest Post here on Gemstone Beauty for this month's Canadian Beauty Bloggers theme of Worth The Splurge! I swear, I tried to think of nail items that I have in my collection that fit the spendy theme, but I'm a junkie for face makeup and skin care at heart and what I really wanted to talk about were a few of the absolute best high end products that I have in my collection! So without further adieu, here they are!

Hourglass, vichy, MAC, Bite Beauty, Becca

For an expensive product to really be worth the splurge for me, it needs to be something that I'm going to get a lot of use out of and also either have some great multi-purpose uses or just perform above and beyond expectations at the one job that it does do. For me, the following six products are some of the absolute best in my collection and ones that I would repurchase upon running out, despite their high price tag!

Bite Beauty, Hourglass, MAC

1. BITE Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick in Retsina
This is a holy grail nude lipstick for me because it works perfectly with my skintone, but I have to say that this formula is probably my favorite lipstick formula ever and worth every penny to pick up at Sephora. It's a rich, creamy texture that gives a lot of moisture to the lips but doesn't feel slippery on the skin, so you don't have to worry about it running out of your lip lines. These lipsticks are also incredibly pigmented and quite long wearing, which makes them pretty a great lipstick for anyone!

2. Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer
Generally, primer isn't something that I particularly like. I've tried a lot of different primers from drugstore to high end, but this is literally the only one that I would repurchase - and it's definitely the spendiest one I've ever owned. This primer claims to waterproof whatever you put on top of it and, while I haven't actually tested that by splashing my face with water, I can tell you that this renders your makeup pretty much bullet proof. Because the full size is so expensive, I like to buy the small size and only use it for special occasions and days when I need my makeup to stay flawless on a long day, but it still remains a staple in my collection and the only primer I'll endorse.

3. MAC Pro Longwear Concealer
This is a product that gets a lot of hype - and for good reason. I like to use this around my eyes. On my under eye area, this gives great coverage and doesn't crepe up or dry out my skin while giving a nice highlight and brightness. I also like to use it as an eyeshadow base specifically because of the anti-crease technology, because it keeps everything in place all day. If I had to recommend only one product from MAC, it would be this one.

Vichy, Hourglass, Becca

4. VICHY Idealia Life Serum
Long before this was sent to me for review, I'd been lusting after it in the store, and it definitely didn't disappoint. I like to use this in the morning and let it act as my serum and my moisturizer, because it gives just enough that my skin looks bright and healthy without any excess oiliness. It also has a sort of opalescence to it that I think gives my skin a subtly brightened effect even under makeup.

5. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette
This is probably the most expensive makeup product in my collection, but I've never once regretted the purchase because it's just insanely gorgeous. The Ambient Lighting Powders are really beautiful and I feel like there's something for everyone, but I feel like this in particular can work really well for anyone. I like to use Dim Light as a setting powder under my eyes when I have a bit of a tan and as a subtle contour in the winter when my skin is incredibly fair. Incandescent Light is a gorgeous pearly highlight all year long. And finally, radiant light is perfect for adding a subtle warmth and sunkissed glow to the skin. I like it to top both bronzer and blush to give even more radiance to the skin. If you haven't tried out the Ambient Lighting Powders yet, they might be the most highly recommended product in this entire list because they're just great for absolutely everyone.

6. BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal
I have the small size of this that came in a set last holiday season and I'm not sure I'll make my way through it anytime soon, but if I do I will definitely repurchase. This is a great multi-tasking product for me. My favorite way to use this is mixed into foundations that run a little bit matte to give it a little bit of luminosity, but it also works beautiful all over naked skin to brighten everything up and give a healthy glow or along the tops of the cheekbones and other high points of the face as a stronger highlight. Of all the liquid highlighting products I've used, this is definitely the one I would recommend the strongest. Also, I feel like this particularly shade would have its uses for every skintone, which is always a plus.

And there you have it, my top 6 items that are definitely worth the splurge! Undoubtedly, if I were a splurgier person, I'd have more on this list, but as it is these are the ones I'll definitely keep coming back to thus far! I want to thank Samantha for having me and thank you guys for reading!

Thanks Trysh!

    1. YOU DID AND I STILL LOVE IT! :D I'm pretty in love with the blush palette too! I'm dying to get my hands on the limited one for this year, but I feel like there's so many LE things I want this winter that it might not factor high enough on the list.
