New essence the gel nail polish: Swatches + Review

I mentioned the other day that essence has released some new items for Spring & Summer and some of those items include new nail polish that are Loblaws exclusives.

There are approximately 10 new colours available, and I have 7 to show you today. These gel-like nail polishes have the same great formula and brush as the ones from Shoppers Drugmart, so you don't have to worry about that. In case you missed it, you can see the full review and swatches of the Shoppers collection here.

I <3 My Blue Jeans & Serendipity

i heart my blue jeans, serendipity

I love these two polishes. On their own or together, they look great. i <3 my blue jeans is a matte nail polish and like most mattes that I've used, it dries quickly. Because of this, I suggest you make sure you have enough polish on your brush to do your entire nail and avoid having to dip back in. You can also add a glossy topcoat to change the effect of the matte polish (not shown). Serendipity and i <3 my blue jeans are both 2 coaters.

My Love Diary & Love Is In The Air

my love diary, love is in the air

It was a little hard to capture the unique colour of my love diary. It's a brick-rose kind of colour. If you use a thick coat, it might be fully opaque in just the one, but I like using two not-so-thick coats. love is in the air is a beautiful yellow. Not quite pastel, but not exactly neon, this yellow adds a great pop of colour to any manicure. Only two coats was needed to achieve opaqueness.

Miss Captain & On Air

miss captain, on air

I can't get over how gorgeous miss captain is! This is a beautiful, almost dusty, blue. Like many of the other polishes, this is opaque in two coats. on air is full of beautiful sparkles and instantly draws your eyes in. While I only used two coats in the pictures below, you may wish to use three coats.

Serendipity & Engaged

serendipity, engaged

I wasn't sure what to make of engaged, but the more I stare at my nails, the more I'm loving this colour! It's a pastel pink with lots of subtle shimmer to it. It dries to a soft satin-y matte which is gorgeous on it's own, or add the essence gel topcoat to enhance the shimmer in it. I only used 2 coats, but a third is probably best. Specially for those who have strong nail lines. serendipity, is one of my absolute favourites from this new release. I guess I'd call this a dusty lavender, or maybe a purple-grey?  Whatever you want to call it, it's beautiful.

Topcoat added "engaged" on the middle finger to show difference
