Bite Beauty Review + Swatches

There's no denying that Bite Beauty makes some of amazing lip products. But did you know that they're Canadian and cruelty-free?  Continue reading to learn more about the brand, its products and some swatches.

"You eat what you put on your lips, so your lipstick should be good for you" - Susanne  Langmuir, founder of Bite Beauty

After 16 years in the beauty industry, Susanne Langmuir developed some sensitivities to non-natural ingredients that are often found in cosmetics. She decided to use her knowledge and used food-grade ingredients filled with antioxidants to create her own lipstick that was good enough to eat. Bite Beauty was born.

Unlike other big companies, each product is handcrafted to ensure highest quality. And the best thing? Not only are they made in downtown Toronto, but they are also cruelty free!

While only two of Bite Beauty's products have touched my lips (their lipsticks and High Pigment Pencils) I'm hooked.

The Canadian exclusive Canadian Maple Matte Crème Lipsticks were not as matte as one would expect, however they were definately not as glossy as the regular line and offered a little more moisture than the typical matte formulas. Thank goodness because some matte lipsticks are just horribly drying!

Braised Maple, Mulled Maple

The Canadian Maple Matte Crème Lipsticks were available in 5 fall-inspired colours and smell like our delicious Canadian maple syrup. The maple syrup smell doesn't last long, but it's enough to bring back memories of going to the sugar shacks as a kid.

Bite Beauty also teamed up with the Movember Foundation and created another Canadian exclusive. The shade Mauvember was created as a fun way for the "Mo Sistas" to support the cause. It was available exclusively at Sephora stores and Sephora.ca and 100% of the proceeds went to the Movember Foundation.

Mauvember

Mauvember is a beautiful mauve colour that could probably work on everyone. It has nice coverage and a lovely fruity smell (real fruit, not fake) and glides on nicely.

Winterberry, Rhubarb, Sablé, Pomegranate

Lastly, Bite Beauty often puts together mini sets for the holidays. The 2014 set, Best Bite Remix, featured 4 mini High Pigment Pencils in a red tin with a mirror on the inside. The 4 colours, Winterberry, Rhubarb, Sablé and Pomegranate are very pigmented and offer quite a bit of shine. While not-at-all transfer proof, these lippies last only a few hours.
