Face Friday: Nip+Fab Dragon's Blood and Glycolic Scrub Review

Nip+Fab review
Every so often, a skincare item will hit my desk for me to try out for me to share my experience and thoughts with you. And while I'll (almost) always finish the items, very few make it to my "Must-have list" for future purchases. I recently discovered 3 new products, which 2 have made it to that list.

While walking around stores like Shoppers Drug Mart, you've probably seen Nip+Fab products. Maybe you were hesitant to buy anything; after all, with names like Bee Sting and Dragon's Blood, it does sound a little intense.

Nip+Fab is created by the founder of Rodial, Maria Hatzistefanis. "Designed to deliver targeted treatments for the face and body, our formulas are crammed with innovative and natural advanced skin smoothing, boosting and firming ingredients. Nip + Fab is premium skincare for everyday concerns at everyday prices."

First item up, is the Glycolic Scrub Fix. This scrub has glycolic + salicylic acids that help to refine, brighten and renew your skin.

Nip+Fab Glycolic Scrub

The glycolic acid (3%) gently exfoliates your skin by sloughing off the dead skin and revealing brighter and smoother skin (and dare I say, possibly younger looking skin?). The salicylic acid on the other hand, cleanses your pores by breaking up the cells that stick together that create blackheads and whiteheads.

This scrub smells like grapefruit, and while I'm not a fan of grapefruit, I actually like it. It's like it helps to wake you up first thing in the morning. I did find it a little on the rough side (just a tad), but it did a fantastic job.  Because I use my Clarisonic on a regular basis, I only use the Nip+Fab Glycolic Scrub Fix 1-2 times a week.

Nip+Fab Dragon's Blood

After a good scrub session, nothing feels better than applying a good moisturizer. The Nip+Fab Dragon's Blood Fix Plumping Serum is amazing used after exfoliating or a regular cleansing. Dragon's Blood is a resin from one of multiple trees (in this case, from the Croton Lechleri) that has been used for ages for various purposes, including medicinal.

Dragon's blood (from the Croton Lechleri tree): forms protective film on skin to protect against environmental aggressors
Velvet flower: enhances moisturisation & illuminates skin
Gransil EP-9: absorbs excess oil & smoothes
Hyaluronic acid: hydrates & refines skin texture

You've seen me talk about Hyaluronic Acid before, and this is a great ingredient in a moisturizer. You don't feel this film that the dragon's blood creates, but your skin is left super soft after applying this. Like, ridiculously soft. It absorbs quickly and doesn't leave any residue behind. One pump is all that's needed.

Note: Both Dragon's Blood products have a strong smell to them, like that's all I could smell when I opened the box. It took me a bit to get used to, but now I enjoy it. The smell also didn't last long on my skin.

Nip+Fab Dragon's Blood

If your skin's craving that extra moisture the Nip+Fab Dragon's Blood Fix Plumping Mask is at your service. This gel mask contains a few skin perfecting complexes to help reduce the look of wrinkles and refine the skin's appearance.

Dragon's blood (from the Croton Lechleri tree): forms protective film on skin to protect against environmental aggressors
Salicylic acid:
cleanses pores & aids exfoliation
Hyaluronic acid:
hydrates & refines skin texture
Glycerin:
draws water to outer layer of the skin keeping it moisturized & helps restore skin suppleness
TEGO cosmo C 250:
brightens skin & fades age spots

I've never used this type of mask before, but it was amazing! It's a gel that you apply generously to your skin. You don't rub it in, you just apply a nice thick(ish) layer, and let it sit for 10 minutes (or overnight). After 10 minutes, or in the morning, you rinse it off, and your skin is feeling moisturized and refreshed! When I went to rinse it off, I noticed that about 75% had been absorbed already! My skin loved it. I didn't have to apply anything afterwards and my skin didn't feel oily or greasy the next morning. I already know this is going to be my winter saviour! And it might come in handy if I burn while on vacation.

The Nip+Fab Dragon's Blood items have become must-haves. The Glycolic Scrub is great, just not for me. And honestly, I can't wait to try more Nip+Fab products, including other Glycolic products.
